Alexandria Families For Safe Streets (AFSS) is holding an event to highlight the risk of pedestrian and cyclist safety. Several AFSS crash survivors and family members who lost loved ones to a car crashing into them when walking in cross walks will tell their stories of the consequences of drivers violating traffic laws. According to the Alexandria Police Department, the months of June and November are the highest incidents of pedestrian and bicyclist crashes.
AFSS goal is to bring the community of Alexandria together to create safe streets for all people to walk and bike by:
Sharing impact stories to increase public awareness and understanding.
Educating drivers, pedestrians and cyclists on safe behavior.
Educating public officials and advocating policies to make our streets safer.
Please join us at the event to show support for safe street practices regarding all road users
When: 3:15 pm on Thursday, June 14, 2018
Where: Francis C. Hammond Middle School (Seminary Road & Kenmore Ave / Library Lane)
